Event Host:

Tanya Campbell

About Event Host:

Tanya is a firm believer in the benefits of dance on our wellbeing and sense of identity. She believes dance brings people together, uniting generations and genders, and gives us the tools to express all aspects of our lived experiences whether that be our daily customs and relationships with others, extravagant celebrations, poignant occasions, or life-changing rites of passage.

She has enjoyed being a student for several years with some of the UK’s leading West African dance artists, including Nii Tagoe (Ghana), Aida Diop (Senegal) and Salif Camara (Guinea).

Tanya is also a huge advocate of Caribbean traditional dance and Orisha dances, as well as the informal Black British /Caribbean dance styles that she acquired from growing up in a family where music and movement were staples of family life.
